Priorities

I've been listening to talk radio all day while I work. Rush Limbaugh is interviewing Sarah Palin and they are talking about how to recapture Congress and the White House, stop the Democratic agenda, health care, jobs, deficits, war and global warming.

Granted, they are morons.

But on progressive talk, Thom Hartmann is talking about JFK conspiracy theories and just went to break telling us that next we will learn how Dick Cheney fits into it. I'm not kidding.

On days that I think my brain can handle it, a flip back and forth between Rush and Amy Goodman.

I'm a scientist, and in this day and age it often means handling two contadictory ideas at the same time - particle/wave duality, the twins paradox, etc. I can only take the Rush/Amy contrast for about 5 minutes before I wonder how both people can be on the same planet.

Thom Hartmann is like some academic windbag who backs you into a corner at a party, boring you to death with subjects that should be interesting, while you cast your eyes around the room, hoping someone will take pity and come rescue you.

I used to work in a warehouse where they listened to Rush's entire three-hour show every day. It was amazing how repetitive it was. He would change, like, one sentence of his script every day, and then another sentence the next day. Eventually, all of the content of the show from a month before had changed. The whole thing was like a glacier of bullshit, moving slowly, slowly, towards the toxic sea.
