New Toon: Welcome To Walter Reed

The investigation into the dilapidated, rodent infested, bureaucratic hellhole of Walter Reed was a refreshing discovery from a media that's been airing uninterrupted coverage of the Anna Nicole Smith court hearing cry-fest. Good to know that in between sending our young people into an unnecessary war and fucking them over for the rest of their lives they get to put their feet up (if available) at such a nice place for a few weeks.

One thing that works well for politicians who are combat veterans is that they get indignant and beat their chests with moral superiority on any issue involving "the troops." Thankfully in this case it will actually be for the better in getting those problems fixed.

I've got a few new comics coming this week. Check back.

Thursday: The Infectious Optimism of Barack Obama

Don't Forget: I've got a selection of quality shirts I designed and printed myself on sale in the store for a mere $5 each.

I find it interestng that you made the workers at Walter Reed white but the injuried servicemember black. If you would do a little checking you would see that most of the civilian employees at Walter Reed at black whereas everyone servicemember interviewed in the Washington Post was white.

Matt,

This is OT, but are you, or any CWA members going to be at the San Diego Comic Con this year? I know Ted Rall and Keith Knight, but I don't know about anyone else.

superdestroyer: what's your point? No doubt there are black soldiers and white doctors. I'm fairly sure of it.

Charles: No, I won't be there. Probably not anyone else from CWA, but we will be at APE.

You comic strip reinforced stereotypes that the left side of the political spectrum feels very comfortable with (whites abusing blacks).

However, to get the real feel of Walter Reed, you need to have a black clerks losing records, hispanic maintenance men sleeping on the job, and older, fat civil servants playing solitaire at their desks while ignoring white soldiers.

Those are much more of the cause of the problems at Walter Reed than whites physicians.

hmmm. You seem obsessed with race. The problems at Walter Reed have to do with sytematic neglect and beauracracy, not sleeping Hispanics.

The races of the people in my comic had more to do with me quickly dumping the paint bucket in characters to meet my deadline than a conspiracy to beat down the white man.

Notice the white soldier in panel three.
