Wednesday: The $3 Trillion Dollar War
For the first time in the nation’s history, more than one in 100 American adults is behind bars, according to a new report.Take that despotic regimes around the world! But wait--it gets worse:
Incarceration rates are even higher for some groups. One in 36 Hispanic adults is behind bars, based on Justice Department figures for 2006. One in 15 black adults is, too...and worse:
...as is one in nine black men between the ages of 20 and 34.yeah, maybe it's time to reevaluate that whole "war on drugs" thing (for starters).

Like many things, we're on the same page about avoiding election topics for awhile. In a few years I don't want to look back at my work and see Clinton-Obama-Clinton-Obama-ad nauseum.
A bit OT, but this blog entry is showing up eight times in the CWA "blog" page.
I've got no clue why it's doing that.
