Tyranny Everywhere!
A sizable portion of America has gone insane.
The concept of civics appears lost. The basic functions of government are derided--if they are even known. The president addressing schoolchildren about doing homework is viewed as the equivalent of a dictate from Chairman Mao. The country seems too dumb to proceed.
The only presidential address to children I'm worried about is Wednesday's.

I think a lot of people have forgotten what society is about. People live and work together so as to create a system where all can benefit and thrive. However, to make it work we need to establish certain rules and responsibilities to govern and respect the rights and personal boundaries of all involved. Just by living in society you subscribe to this arrangement (Social Contract Theory).
For instance, you can't just drive wherever you want at any speed you feel like because you might endanger other people. Without law we would have anarchy where the only order is brute force (might makes right). Law is what separates us from lower animals.
I think if these nutbags don't want any government telling them what to do then they should waive their part of the social contract. That is, leave society and civilization completely and live out in the wilderness. Forage for food and support yourself 100% without contact from anyone and see how that goes.
C'mon Matt, no one is taking the nutcases seriously. Well, no one except Obama, who took a single-payer healthcare system off the negotiating table even before negotiations began, mainly because of the threat from the GOP, who have a crushing minority in Congress, giving them free rein to do precisely nothing at all.
