Font Wars
The Times doesn't waste space covering Michael Jackson or Jon and Kate. Too beneath them. Leave it to the Post. However, they do cover the consequential world of people mad over IKEA catalogs. As someone with a degree in graphic design I do sympathize. I have it out for overused fonts. My creed: don't support businesses that use Papyrus in their logos.

Amen brother! Spread the word about poor font usage. If we don't, the next thing we'll see is people using German black letters for informal memos or (heaven forbid) Curlz MT for -anything-.
I agree that Verdana was a terrible choice, but I use it for body copy or navigation on websites (it was made for the screen) at times.
The list of offensive fonts is extensive with Arial, Papyrus, Curlz MT, Hobo and the king of them all, Comic Sans, coming well before Verdana.
Meh. I loathe IKEA regardless. They are the Walmart of furniture, and the world's greatest enemy of furniture made of solid wood.
I don't see why people are hating on Verdana so much, I mean other than the fact is was commissioned by Microsoft. Matthew Carter is one of my favorite typeface designers.
