Silly Season, Day 3,759

The media's ability to yack endlessly about meaningless bullshit two months from an important Presidential Election is making me ill.

The major news networks in this country have been reduced to 24/hour sports broadcasts. The election has come down to rooting for your favorite sports team.

No one really cares about the fact that the results of this election could result in the deaths of thousands people or start more unnecessary wars; you know: tangible reality. People just want to make sure they do/don't have their abortion rights.

I stopped watching TV coverage of this crap a long time ago.

I agree with you, sumit. The Daily Show, Bors, and Ted Rall are about all the coverage I need.

Thanks for the high praise, forksmuggler.

As long as this election is focused on these pointless squabbles, Obama stands to lose. This cartoon was drawn before the pig lipstick "controversy" but it's the perfect illustration of what I'm talking about.

I'm with Forksmuggler. I can't even bring myself to watch the evening news anymore, much less any 24 hour "news" channel.

I haven't drawn a political cartoon in months; just picking up the pen sets off a "Ludovico Treatment" reaction. I don't know how you do it, Matt. You're a stronger man than I.

Thanks, Kelly. I admit it's getting tough. Palin has energized me as a cartoonist and frightened me as an American.

Love the Clockwork Orange reference.
