Stewart genuflects

John Stewart must reserve his hard-hitting interview approach exclusively for neo-cons and lousy pundits. When SuperFreakonomics author Steve Levitt was on the last night, Stewart's questions seemed written by the book publisher's PR department.

I don't expect Stewart to rake everyone over the coals like Jim Cramer and I'm all for contrarian opinions, but if a guest says, "I'm of the idea that we don't have to pay the price for polluting" the least you could do is play devil's advocate for a quick second.

The only thing hard-hitting about this interview was the force at which Stewart's lips smacked against Levitt's ass.

Anonymous: You love commenting here regularly. Thanks for your interst. Sad thing for you though: no more anonymous posting. Now you'll have to attach your name to your opinions like I do.

Register with Blogger or Open ID and I'll publish everything you say. In fact, moderation is turned off.

The upside: With about a minute of work you can register and continue to berate me.

The downside: everyone else gets to know which cartoonist you are.

Come back if you got the sack.

Argh! Can you at least give us the gist of what he said? Perhaps some juicy quotes? Mailbag douchebag (or forum douchebag) is my favorite part!

I agree with malachi. Expose them!

He didn't say much this time. It's just tiresome that the same person is devoted to anonymous commenting because they have a personal grudge against me.

If they register they can say whatever they want. I don't mind criticism but I do mind cowards.

Anon, registering under "Matt Borrs" just shows how you are devoted to coming back here and refuse to post under your real name.

I know you are upset over public comments I made about you, but I attached my name to those. Do you have the tiny spec of courage it takes to do the same?

Ok, Borrs ..... er, I mean Bors. Here's my real name. It's real, I swear it is. 100% genuine, you can look it up in the phone book in suburban Tampa. I swear I live in Tampa, I really do.

Anyhoo ...

To the other posters, all I said was I think it's funny seeing the left hating on Jon Stewart. I also called this site "Rall-lite". Apparently, this pisses off Bors to no end because he wouldn't post it. So now he can call me by my real name Bor(r)s. Problem solved.

If that's your real name come back and post anytime!

So, as for your comment, I don't see what's wrong criticizing Stewart since he brands himself as one who battles BS and hypocrisy. I generally like him but he's not above criticism.

Why would I apply a different standard to the left than I do to religious nuts, corporate whores, and right-wing scum?

That's why I like you and Rall, Matt, is that you take on both sides of the political aisle, as does (usually) TDS. I see that as something that generally separates liberals from conservatives.

Forgive the bad grammar there, folks.

Koozer HAS to be a joke name. I would have pegged him as one of the venerable Tampa Prickmans or even a member of that city's well known Twatster clan.

yeah, but at least he showed minimal effort.

Has anyone read the relevant chapter in the new Levitt book? I know the quote in the linked article is pretty bad, but they've since made the rounds and swear that they believe in anthropogenic climate change. It's a shame, because their first book was really very fun, and I was looking forward to this. But if he really is a climate change denialist, coy or otherwise, he automatically loses about a million points in my book.

He's not denying climate change. What he's saying is that we can drive Priuses all we want, we won't really see any results for 50 years or so. The damage has already been done, and if we want to slow global warming more immediately, well need to pump sulfur into the atmosphere or something like that. Y'all should pay more attention when you watch the daily show.

I agree with Ron. Besides, the superfreak guy was a repeat guest, and Jon is always much nicer to guests he's had on the show before, probably because they're friends or at least friendly and you don't rake friends across the coals. Stewart knew he'd take crap from left-wingers for that interview; he was making fun of himself the whole time. That says to me that he honestly believes what he told the man, and it wasn't just ass kissing. Why should Stewart kiss the ass of some college professor anyhow? The premise doesn't make much sense, Bors.
