100,000 Iraqi Civilians murdered

I haven't checked the networks yet, but how do I know this will not be the biggest story of the weekend. 100,000 dead. That's almost 36 times the amount killed on 9/11. We know that we did not go to war to prevent an attack on America, but even if we had is that worth the lives of 100,000 Iraqis? How much more valuable is an American's life than an Iraqi's? Right now it stands at about 100:1. The doctrine of pre-emptive war has done nothing to make the world safer. It has only caused an extraordinary amount of death. Reuters article:

"Making conservative assumptions, we think that about 100,000 excess deaths, or more have happened since the 2003 invasion of Iraq," said Les Roberts of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in a report published online by The Lancet medical journal.

"The use of air power in areas with lots of civilians appears to be killing a lot of women and children," Roberts told Reuters.

It's official: working to elect the corrupt, inept, installed leader Bush is an unforgivable offense. Over one hundred thousand Iraqi civilians and eleven hundred Americans dead in this ill concieved military operation. Weapons that we were supposedly worried about destroying are now in the hands of terrorists. We are creating another generation of people who will have deep resentment towards the United States and this 'president' dares to run his campaign on national security.

No real figure has existed before now since the U.S. military refuses to count the dead, in violation of the Geneva Conventions. From today's New York Times article:

"This study shows that with moderate funds, four weeks and seven Iraqi team members willing to risk their lives, a useful measure of civilian deaths could be obtained," the authors wrote.

Ashlee Simpson: Diva

You may remember in August when I lambasted Ashlee Simpson in this cartoon. Now she is being nationally ridiculed after her appearance on SNL Saturday.Video Here. She claimed she had a sore throat so, under doctor's orders, opted to sing with a "backing track" to guide her. When the vocals come in they are full volume. No self respecting musician would do this as Ashlee stated in an interview with Lucky Magazine:

LM: What are your takes on lip-synching?

AS: I'm totally against it and offended by it. I'm going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I'd never lip-synch. It's just not me.

First Post

I figured I should finally start the blog I've been planning for the last few months. I never thought I would be blogging, but I've given in to our insanely connected culture. since I live in Canton, OH, home to Diebold, black box voting developers, I could be in the center of another election crisis. They've already started.
